Alaskan Learning Experience (5 days/ 4
nights)
For
school groups who have less time
available but still want to experience
Alaska, the Alaskan Learning Experience
offers lots of hands-on fun for students
of all ages. Although the tour only
covers two of Alaska's major cities,
experiences shared by the group will
last a lifetime.
Itinerary
Day
1 Anchorage;
The group will transfer to their downtown area
hotel by private coach or courtesy
shuttle. They can enjoy
the remainder of the day at
leisure. Within walking distance
of most downtown hotels is the Anchorage
Museum, numerous restaurants, and
other attractions.
Guests may wish to participate
in an optional activity such as Flightseeing
or Mountain Biking. Overnight
in
Anchorage.
Day 2
Anchorage to Seward;
The
group will board a motorcoach for the
journey to Seward. We suggest a stop at Alaska
Wildlife Conservation Center to view
rescued Alaskan animals. Afterwards the
group will visit Exit Glacier. This is only part of the Kenai Fjords
National Park accessible by road. In the evening
the group can enjoy a guided sled dog ride
and learn how Iditarod champions train
and prepare for the
Iditarod sled dog race. The evening is at leisure.
Overnight in Seward.
Day 3
Seward;
Students will have several opportunities
today for hands-on participation while
learning about sea water composition,
food chains, ecosystems, marine
mammal, seabirds, and collection and
examination of plankton. The students
will get a chance to see the
native habitants of Resurrection Bay as
they enjoy a full full day of cruising
Kenai Fjords National Park.
Following the cruise the group will be
able to relax and explore Seward at
leisure. Overnight in Seward.
Day 4
Seward to Anchorage;
After being able to see the animals in
their natural environment, students will
be able to see some of Alaska's sea life
up close at the Alaska SeaLife Center. A
fun scavenger hunt will start the
visit. Optional programs are also
available.
Day
5 Anchorage;
The group's last day in Alaska starts out at
the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
Lively native dances and interpretive
displays will teach the students all about the
many different native tribes of Alaska.
The group will stop at all of the
traditional sites to learn about
how natives from the different regions
lived and survived. Afterwards the group
will visit the
Alaska Public Lands Information Center
for a lesson on the Aurora Borealis.
Finally a self-guided tour with a
